Rice : a grain that comes from lotano

Have you ever had questions about the origin and provenance of the foods that come into your kitchen?
has happened to me and out of curiosity I decided to do some research and I am happy to share with you my findings. Indeed, if you have any curiosity about a food contact me and I will try to answer your question.

So one night, after cooking a good risotto, I discovered that laughter is the fruit of a plant, Oryza sativa, from Asia, where it was already cultivated seven thousand years ago. In Europe the rice is starting to be grown after 1300 and slowly, first as a medicine, then as food, wins a prestigious post in the feed. In particular, in Italy was probably introduced to Sicily by the Arabs, or by the Crusaders returning from the Holy Land, or the merchants of the Republic of Venice.
Rice, of all the cereals, is the most complete food, makes a significant contribution of fiber, vitamins and minerals and is more digestible than other grains, thought to be assimilated in 60/100 minutes.

Eh, is it true that you never stop to learn! Until recently I would not have never thought the story could go in the kitchen! Now I say goodbye, I'm going to make me a little 'pop-corn. By the way, but where it comes from corn? And what is it? I'll tell you soon!

still an idea:
  • Why you throw the rice to get married? For some this practice originated from the Chinese tradition : an ancient legend, the good genie, the sight of farmers affected by a severe famine, it was moved to pity and has asked them to irrigate their fields with the water of the river where he scattered his teeth. The water transformed teeth in seeds that produced thousands of rice plants , which feed the entire population. Rice has since become a symbol of abundance and prosperity and run it amounts to about newlyweds to wish them a future of happiness and satisfaction. Others say, the launch of rice has Roman origins. It says, in fact, traditionally in ' Ancient Rome launches grain for the married couple (always as a wish for fertility). The "change of grain is done when the rice grain has become more available (no rice at home ... almost never miss the wheat instead ...!). This second hypothesis, however, about the tradition of throwing rice the spouses is less certain than the first.
